I think I am falling in love, though my heart breaks. Tonight I met Sullivan, a ten year old Weimaranan who was surrendered by his family because they are having their first baby and feel Sullivan is too energetic for their new lifestyle. Hmmmmm.
My friend, Hope, asked me to help with the fundraiser she's chairing for The Big Dog Ranch Rescue. We are coordinating a Howlin Hoedown to raise money for this amazing organization. Our committee meeting was held tonight at the Rescue so we could all get an opportunity to see exactly what our efforts will benefit. They currently have about 120 big dogs waiting for placement.
My heart went out to Sullivan. I cannot understand how someone can give up a ten year old dog. Do you know the average life expectancy of a Weimaranan is ten to twelve years? He just got to the Rescue today after a five hour drive from Jacksonville, Florida. I snapped this photo quick, Sullivan looking out the front door, waiting perhaps for his family to come? He probably doesn't know what's going on.
I never used to like dogs. What the heck? I already have two! How will I ever sleep tonight?!
"....and now that I am old and gray, Oh God, forsake me not" . . . .

Oh my... That's so sad. He looks like such a sweet and gentle pet.
I agree--this is heartbreaking--our pets are just as much family as our actual family is, and the love they show us is amazing--I feel so bad for Sullivan.
P.S. And I want to thank you for your wonderful comment on my blog--this put a very big smile on my face--thank you!!
nice picture!
I can't imagine the sorrow you are feeling for this darling dog. He must be so confused. I don't know how someone could do that to a family member, I feel they become our family anyway. I pray Sullivan finds the perfect home to live out the rest of his life with love and peace.
I hope your efforts are very beneficial for all the sweeties that need homes. God bless your work!
Big hugs, Sherry
PS love your altered art
Are you keeping him?! He sure doesn't know what going on..poor guy..breaks my heart too! He probably would have just loved that baby!

My heart broke too Joyce just reading about Sullivan's story. How can someone give him up after 10 yrs.!! I hope you are giving Sullivan a new, loving home :)!
I hate to hear about people who just give their beloved pets away like they are a used toy going to Goodwill.
Poor guy. You are a wonderful person to have such deep feelings for him.
I sure hope he finds a home to live the last years of his life.
Joanne
Have you brought him home yet?
