When "surfing" blogs recently, I came across an interesting challenge that I decided to participate in. Read Your Own Books is a great opportunity to read some of the books that I've bought, but haven't yet read. While it is not required to create a list, I wanted an idea of what I was getting myself into. After perusing my bookshelves with pen in hand, I made a list of 58 books that I have not read. Wow! I have many other reference books, motivational books, decorating books and cookbooks that I have not read cover-to-cover, but I am not including them on my list. Novels only!! And I'm surprised (or chagrined) to say that I had doubles of two books!!! Those are first on my list, after I finish my current book. I also belong to a monthly book club. January's selection is "Pillars of the Earth" by Ken Follett. I have to finish that also.
Sounds like I'll be so busy reading, in addition to all of the other things I have to do like work, laundry, cleaning, etc., that hopefully I will steer clear of "snack-mode" so I can stay on track with Weight Watchers. My goal for "Read Your Own Books" is twenty books. Not sure if I can do it, but I'm going to give it my best shot. I love lists and it will be such fun to cross books off this list. If for nothing else, I'm sure I will meet more bloggers through this challenge and that is always a wonderful thing. Happy reading!!

This is such a great idea. Just for the fun of it, i think i may do this as well. i dont know if i will have quite as many unread books as you do, i think we might have gotten rid of them already ..

hi connie! happy new year! (:
This is really a great idea. I do still have a bunch of books we actually shipped over that I haven't read yet. In fact I've been meaning to read Pigs in Heaven by Barbara Kingsolver that my daughter gave me. I'll take it off my shelf and start today. Thank you for giving me the motivation!
this is a great idea!! Your blog looks so great!! and i love the new banner!! <3 ya
Goodness, I don't have any books that I haven't read.....wait, except for some pretty literate ones that a much loved professor/boss wrote and autographed for me less than two years before he passed away, Other than those, I have waiting lists at the library.
Happy New Year Joyce !!
I LOVE your new banner:) Great photos:) Good for you to try to read 20 books. I was reading more, then I started blogging and spend too much time doing that. I think I need to set a timer while I'm blogging!
It was a little scary for Mom and it's better now.
I hope you do well with WW...it does work as I have been on WW MANY times:) I'm going to exercise more, that is one goal for this year.
Take care.
