Rachel went on her first solo flight today to visit family and friends in Connecticut and New Jersey. I know she's 16 years old, but this old mother's heart was flipping out while waiting for that text message telling me she landed. She did! I'm so proud of her for handling this on her own. And I'm proud of me also!! She is very mature and very responsible, but still, I've always been with her whenever she flew anywhere. It's really hard to watch those baby birds spread their wings!!
So now she's off having fun. That's what summer is all about. While we often catch a Broadway show when we visit New Jersey, we won't make it to one this year when I join Rachel. Our alternative is a Bon Jovi concert. That man with the golden locks will rock our socks off on my birthday in none other than our home state. A wonderful birthday treat for me!! I cannot wait!!

Ooh Joyce! Have you seen them before?
My very first concert-ever-was Bon Jovi! I even slept outside (the ticket booth) in Pittsburgh, among a crown of thousands in order to get good seats! I was one fo the first few through the door. But because it was in the middle of January, I caught pneumonia :(
Hvae fun!!
Oh goodness, I so envy you seeing Bon Jovi! Woo-hoo! I know that feeling of watching your child "fly away", my two youngest were 9 and 14 when they flew to New Orleans without me! They were with our YMCA Y-Arts group but still...I hope Rachel has a wonderful visit and how great is it that you will enjoy such a great concert with her.
This is just a brief glimpse for when she gets married, lovey. Then your heart will break when you have to turn her over to a sweet young man. She is so beautiful I hope she gets the "right" one...

Connie
I know Rachel is going to have a fabulous time. We do worry though. The first time I sent Jon off by himself to California (He must have been about 12) I told the stewardess, etc. and they put a little button on him to make sure everybody knew he was unescorted. He was NOT happy with me.
Well Joyce, I feel for you. Whenever we send Chloe to California I can't relax until I get that call after her grandpa picks her up at the gate. Rachel will love you for helping her become an independent and adventurous young woman.
Bon Jovi - you're so lucky!!
Joyce I am so jealous-BON JOVI on your birthday!! You are one lucky woman-LOL!!! I am proud of you for handling Rachel flying alone-I was nervous when my youngest daughter, Jenny flew to Paris and then on to London-that is where we get our gray hairs from!!! Hugs to you!
Hi Joyce, It is hard to believe that Rachel is already 16 !!
Thanks for stopping by sweetie . I am not blogging much lately.
