So You Wanna Be a Track Star

Today was the first track meet of the season. Rachel was asked to participate in three events - the 4x800, the mile and the 800. Here is a photo of her on the last leg of the 4x800. Look at that form!!

We were at the meet for just about four hours. I know I won't get much sympathy, but it really was cold out there. The temperature was 59, which is very cold for south Florida. The wind was whipping and the bleachers were not heated, like the seats in my car. My blood has thinned in the 20 years I've been living here and anything below 75 is nippy, especially if it's windy. I know. You think I'm nuts. Okay. I'm changing the subject.

Miley Cyrus sings a song about being a rock star. I dropped Rachel off at school very late today. She had less than three minutes to get to class. She texted me a short while later to let me know that she sprinted the whole way and she made it!!! I texted her back and said . . . so you wanna be a track star . . .

That's my girl! Now I've gotta go get my blankets. I'm chilled to the bone!!!

Hi Joyce!

Wow, I really feel bad for you... gee it's uhhh... 20deg up here... I bet that 59 seemed brutle! LOL Hey I hear your "blood" does change after a while. That just sounds so funny, 59deg! LOL

Keep up the good work trying to be healthier! Every day is such a challenge for me, but this time I'm trying to change how I think about food. I could LIVE on sugar! I could eat donuts for breakfast and chocolate cake for lunch and dinner and be really happy for a time. But since I don't want to become diabetic and be on the cover of the Inquirer as they use a backhoe to remove me from my house, I need to regroup and slowly become the person I picture, healthy and able to play with my little sweetie girls.

Some weeks I don't do good either so just stick to it and know you are NOT alone!! I'm right there with you girl!!

Big hugs,Sherry

Rachel has wonderful "track" form! I guess if I ran like that I would be that thin huh? I'm glad she loves to run, it is good for her! I agree 59 is cold, especially if it is windy. It is 57 degrees here in Charlotte right now and this is warm it was 21 this morning. By Friday it's suppose to be in the high 70's-YAY!
