A Day Off

I had the pleasure of taking today off from work. I spent the day with my sister, Lisa. We went to Blowing Rock Preserve in Jupiter.

The day started out very cloudy and we really doubted it would clear up, but it did! And I have the sunburn to prove it!! I have never been to this beach, but my goodness, I will be going there again. I feel bad (somewhat) showing pictures of winter in South Florida, but when most of you are enjoying summers of sun and fun, we will be in our rainy season. This is our best time of year and we are doing all we can to enjoy it. Sit back and enjoy with me . . .

Wasn't that a pretty place? Now back to work I go.

I love this! Thanks for taking us along. I love the beginning going through that tunnel of branches and leaves. It's like going into another world. Wow!

Joyce - thanks for visiting my blog - thought I'd check out yours too! Ahhhh...Florida. We visit every February - Daytona area, but have been to West Palm Beach too - I love it all!!! Great pictures, and made me forget our dreary, rainy weather in Ohio for a bit! (but spring is on the way!!!)

Well, I have to admit...I'm selfish. I wish I had the best of both worlds~A private, secluded kind of beach house...

Anyhoo~I think you can grow lavender there. On the seed pkg. it says when to sow for each region, and Florida was on there (Tx, etc.)

As for the shopping. It's a heck of alot better up here when it comes to thrift/antiquing. (Especially South of Atl.)

Down there, and I ahte to admit it, but, I used to hit the Goodwill on 441 (it sits in the back of the Walmart parking lot).
I was going there about 3X a week to try to find the "good stuff" and I did. It became my own personal "flea market", if you will, since the one in LW took a turn for the worse years ago. The Californians are lucky in that respect. At least according to Rachel Ashwell :)

A friend of mine would go to the Goodwill (she'd buy the designer handbags when they got them in to resell on ebay), as well as Church rummage sales in Broward.

I'm not much help in that dept, because there really is no where left to find that kind of stuff and the antique stores on Dixie are pricy and really dont carry the stuff I was looking for.

I've never been to Mt. Dora, but I always wanted to go. Let me know if you do~Let me know how it was. We still takes trips to Fla. now & again.

Brooksville Fla. off of 75 & 50 (I think) over on the West coast, has alot of great stores. And they have this one place (gosh, I can't remember the name of it now) that is about 5 cottages filled with Christmas decor, each one in a ddifferent theme and is open year round. (Except for Christmas). if I remember the name of it, I'll let you know. And they have beautiful old houses there too with lots of history...I loved going there...And watcvhing the sun set at Pine Island Beach. The drive to get to the beach there is incredible...the street is lined with pine trees for quite a stretch, then you just happen upon the beach...not like in WPB.
