Little Boys and Their Toys

Today I am thankful for little boys and their toys. In a blink of an eye, they are grown men, never to play with their toys again.

My eighteen year old son, Logan, decided to clean his room. I don't mean dusting and vacuuming, though that was done also. He decided that it's time to get rid of things that have taken residency in his room for years. Like dusty lego's . . .

And building blocks . . .

Remote control cars . . .

Fire trucks . . .

And the dancing Homer Simpson Santa he just had to have . . .

These were all part of a little boy growing up.

He gave me a multitude of happy memories . . .

That I will cherish forever . . .

And while it is so nice to see Logan become a man . . .

The years of watching that little boy learn about life have been some of the best years of my life. And while little boys and their toys fill your life with such cheer . . . the day will surely come, when playing with those toys is done . . .

And I will be forever thankful for being blessed with Logan, my wonderful son.

I understand completely! I love going back and waxing nostalgic in my many photo albums, even as I thoroughly enjoy my grandchildren.

I can see you cherish the moments and are blessed to have a grown handsome son.

I think the perfect age for boys is 8 or 9, honey. They love to just play by themselves and go out in the hills and find "creatures" to bring home and scare MOM to death with!! Just loved my son at that age

What a beautiful tribute to Logan.
He is blessed to have a mom like you, and he will realize that and maybe he does now but if not believe me he will.

oh that is so sweet. I know how you feel as I too have an 18 year old son. I also have 2 20 year old daughters, a 17 year old daughter and a 15 year old daughter. It is bittersweet to watch them grow.
It reminds me of something I read years and years ago..."yes, it hurts when buds burst, there is pain when something grows..."

Oh, it's so true, before we know it they are all grown up. My seventeen year old daughter just decorated outside for Halloween...it certainly wasn't my taste. But you know, I said to my husband, this might be the last Halloween that she decorates. I just love them being young...I just wish I could freeze time. Happy Thankful Thursday, Karen

Hi Joyce, thanks for stopping by my blog. Our children grow up so quickly. It wasn't long after my youngest child/son left for the Air Force that I went to his closet, took two or three pair of his shoes the den and dropped them in the middle of the floor, and life seemed right again!

I hope you have a place to keep his little boy toys because one day you will be needing them again for when your future grand kids arrive. Then your "big boy" will be playing with his "little boy" toys again - I know that for a fact. It is all one big circle.

Your dishes are lovely, and a really good buy. We don't have any of those stores around here.

Take care, Patricia

Logan and I have grown up so fast and I am sure it was hard for you to see his old toys go...but it brought back some good memories for you and I am sure it was fun to look back! Logan turned out to great and I think it is because he had an awesome mother...so feel free to take credit! I feel like you are my second mother so I guess you can take credit for part of me too..lol! Luv ya soo much!

You brought back many memories for me. I have one son [29]and I remember the legos, matchbox cars, GI Joe puzzles that we put together and then glued together and shrink wrapped, books that we read, etc. Thanks for my trip down memory lane. They sure do grow up fast!

I'm going through this too, although my boys are little older. It's so sad but so nice to see the kids getting older. What a wonderful post.

Hi Joyce!
What a wonderful post! It's amazing how fast they grow up. My baby is 27 now and he is so amazing. Both my boys are such blessings to me. But I can still see them with their toys too. How time flies!
